We love everyone who has taken steps to help us make our movie a reality. And like a parent of competitive children, we’d hate to look like we’re playing favorites. That said, we’re going to take a focus on those companies and corporations that have donated supplies or products to help us make ends meet on our small independent movie!
Adventure 16 holds a special place in our heart because they were our first sponsor. Adventure 16 is also a local business, making them all the more near and dear. This Los Angeles-based camping and hiking-gear store gave us water bottles for our travels, plus a discount on the gear we bought from them.
Brunton makes solar panels and solar arrays. When you’re on the road for seventy days and have no access to outlets, charging your camera, GPS, and phone batteries becomes a big concern. Luckily, Brunton was there to save the day with their generous gift of a solar array, including a solar battery, a solar panel, and even a camp stove so we could prepare hot meals on the go for ourselves.
This may not mean much to our non-filmmaker followers, but anyone who’s tried to store terabytes of video data know that storage doesn’t come cheap. At least, not unless your sponsor, G-Tech, donates a free drive and offers you a discount on future drive purchases. You were the best in the biz before you sponsored us, but we’re especially greatful for your support!
Once we’re situated with gear, power, and food, it’s time to look to the next consideration: water. Water purification systems can be bulky and heavy, which is why we were delighted to find SteriPENs – a small device the size of a pen that you can swirl through your water to kill the bacteria living in it. Thank you to SteriPEN for donating two SteriPENS so Sam – and her buddy – can have access to clean, fresh water.
Another local sponsor, Whole Foods of West Hollywood, provided us with food so that we could keep our hikers and crew healthy and well-fed even when they were miles away from civilization.
Finally, we’d like to thank the Puffin Foundation. Unlike our other sponsors, they didn’t donate product, but their cash grant allowed us to make those final purchases that weren’t covered by our sponsors. Without the Puffin Foundation, this film would not be possible.
